Confidence in ourselves allows us to tackle challenges, believe in our abilities and opens us up to learn and deal with challenges in life. Children learn every moment of every day and building up their confidence is a critical part of their development while they are at StepUp Nursery^TM. Socializing with other children and teachers instills confidence in themselves which is very important in helping form relationships with others. Confidence also helps teach children to take responsibility for themselves and their actions.

StepUp Nursery^TM offers many activities that help build confidence in children including Intro to Cooking, Arabic, Dance & Movement, Confidence Counseling, doing art projects, learning to recognize letters and numbers, learning about and playing on musical instruments. Specifically, Confidence Counseling is done weekly with the children in the Little Lions, Tiny Turtles and Dazzling Dolphins so that the children have the opportunity to be in front of their peers to develop their public speaking skills.

Being able to control their bodies is an important part of readying the brain for learning in children. In addition, it’s important to be physically active – and it’s extremely important with young children to allow them lots of time to play. StepUp Nursery^TM offers age-appropriate equipment and activities for all children to help them safely increase their agility and hand-eye coordination.

Our Tiny Turtles (4 months-15 months) start developing their hand and grasping skills so they have access to soft toys, toys that make sounds, musical instruments, toys with various textures – all that are safe for them at this tender age. Our Nurses also engage the children with hand-play songs such as London Bridges, Miss Mary Mack, Ring Around the Rosie, etc. As they are learning to crawl, they are given the opportunity to play in our Indoor Soft Play Gym where they can explore safely on padded mats. As they learn to walk they are provided push toys and can be outside in the Bike and Trike Lane as well as the covered outdoor play space. Water Play each week is also a fun activity.

Our Little Lions (15 months-2 years), Playful Pandas (2-3 years) and Dazzling Dolphins (3-4 years) are also engaged daily through songs and hand-play activities as well as utilizing our indoor play area which includes a kitchen and imaginative play/dress up center, Legos, participating weekly in Dance & Movement class, weekly water play outdoors, use of the outdoor play areas and Bike and Trike Lane, and our Indoor Soft Play Gym.

Resilience is the ability to deal with challenges and bounce back and thrive. Just like adults, children have to learn to cope with situations and failures. Being in a new setting, learning to deal with other children, meeting new adults/teachers and learning new things at school all provide opportunities for your children to increase their resilience. Being resilient will help children be more successful in school, in building relationships with others, makes them more confident to try new things, and makes them better learners. Resilient children try new things and understand that they can overcome setbacks and be successful. It helps them cope with failures and find new ways to be successful the next time and studies show that children can think more flexibly and realistically, be less anxious and more creative.

StepUp Nursery^TM helps build resilience in children by offering them a safe, judgement-free environment to try new things including lessons in the classrooms like identifying letters, numbers and colors; learning Arabic; being in front of their peers speaking; learning about music and playing musical instruments. Even playing on the playground or the Indoor Soft Gym allows them to try new things like climbing up a structure that they haven’t seen before. Intro to Cooking exposes them to cooking, following directions, tasting new things and helps them gain confidence in their abilities as they create something meaningful from scratch. All of the activities at StepUp Nursery^TM are intended to help children try, learn and grow in their abilities.

Inner, mental strength is important as well as physical strength. Children look to adults – and other children – as role models. It’s important for children to be surrounded with love, a safe environment, and a calm place to learn, grow and play. Consistent, dependable, responsive environments are especially important for preschoolers to develop inner strength as they learn to trust themselves and important people in their lives.

StepUp Nursery^TM provides a safe, clean, stimulating and stable setting for children to explore and play. They learn to solve problems, socialize with their peers, trust in their caregivers, and gain skills necessary to prepare them for Primary school. Being in the school setting that StepUp Nursery^TM provides helps children learn independence, self reliance, grows their self esteem, helps them manage stress, face their fears, build their thinking skills and realize their special talents. Being with their peers also helps them learn empathy for others and teaches young children how to build friendships. They will learn self control and self discipline.
