- This engaging classroom is filled with age and developmentally appropriate toys and books and learning materials including blocks, picture books, play doh, a kitchen center, chubby markers and crayons, etc.
- At this age, pre-writing skills are encouraged and fostered by exposing children to letters and numbers around the classroom and in direct lessons. Children use chubby crayons and markers to imitate drawing circles, horizontal and vertical lines and scribbling. The fine motor skills are generally not developed enough to form letters with writing tools so using their fingers to make shapes and draw with finger paints and in shaving cream are fun activities.
- Skills we emphasize at this age include sitting for a brief period of time; eating snack with little assistance; helping to clean up toys; walking in a line; taking turns; and empathy for others.
